If a ghetto ceases to look like a ghetto, is it still one? One cannot deny the importance environment plays in the development of children. The Nature vs. Nurture debate has valid points on both sides; we believe both affect developing minds to a certain degree. Factors such as drug abuse, gang activity, and multiple jobs may take parents away from their children, but these are issues that cannot be addressed rapidly. What the neighborhood can do, however is choose a starting point that is easily attainable and progress from there. Neighborhood cleanup can be this starting point. A little Love goes a long way. By making a conscious choice to improve our living situation rather than accepting the status quo, we silently give permission for others to do the same. When one is faced with a daunting task, it often feels impossible when there is no support. The more help that is extended, the easier a task becomes. As more people realize the power to affect change lies within themselves love will flood the streets; purifying whatever it contacts. Granted there may always be those who refuse to Love, these people can do what they like; we aim to spread love unconditionally.
