Repost From IndyBay: Tech Commute Shut Down at MacArthur BART!

As May 1st drew closer, the mainstream media got wind of the event and began running articles on the internet. Just before the blockade was to take place, a friendly Google employee informed us that Google had canceled its buses for May 1st, but that one particular bus would still run that day.

Conversation with My Grandma About Balitmore

I posed this series of questions to her: Is fire violent [yes]. Is a fire raging through a forest a bad thing [yes]. But if it is bad, why does the forest proliferate after the fire? The fire creates much needed nutrients and clears away old growth for new life to sprout forth. So is the fire bad?
Arguing along these lines, the protests and “violence” in the streets are fire. Our cities/states/country are the forest. We may need this “violence” to clear away the old and make room for the new. This “violence” may provide the nutrients we need for seeds of change to grow into a beautiful forest that provides for all her children.

I know I Shouldn’t…but I Should

But it seems everyone doesn’t feel the same. Everyone isn’t jumping up to volunteer…why is that? Is it because the work is too hard? too time consuming? too political? I don’t know… I wish I did. Maybe its none of those options. Let’s say for the sake of argument that its ignorance. Lets assume that people just don’t know, and if they did, they’d be outraged. Lets assume that prior, implicit biases and programming have kept their eyes blind to what truly is happening on our Planet. If thats the case, how do we save people who don’t want to be saved.

What it comes down to is that the people who see things for what they are, and cannot live with themselves if they do nothing, must be willing to shoulder huge burdens. For the most part, this is what people do, and it burns out the movement. Which brings me full circle, hopefully. We seem to be between a rock and a hard place. Do we take it all on our shoulders and go as far as we can before dropping from exhaustion? Do we do all we can to change the viewpoints of the willfully blind, eventually exhausting us from running in place from so long?

dsc_0082I wish I knew that answer… From my viewpoint, it seems the answer is a blend of everything I’ve mentioned. The conscious and active people in this country must go for as long as we can, and do all that we can, so that we can bring lasting change to this country. We also must reach out to the blind. I assume that all in that compromised position would voluntarily to stay there if someone told them what the world actually looks like. Despite all the horrors happening during our time, Mother Earth still remains a radiant planet, providing a place for her children to live and thrive. That’s why I fight so hard. Gaia shows me unspeakable beauty everyday, and reminds me that this life has so much more to offer. When others open up their eyes to the paradise within our grasp, lets foster those people, and plug them in where they fit most. If you happen to carry a heavier load than others, rejoice! You are the ones who are kids kids will be honoring.
