The homeless population is too often neglected and frequently disparaged. We are firm believers in actively shaping reality. We see our brothers and sisters in need and feel obliged to help. With the help of active community members, organizations and students we hope to spread a little love this winter to those who need it the most. Slipping through the cracks of society tends to strip the humanity of individuals in the process. With our proverbial olive branch, we seek to help our kin discover their humanity once more. We believe knitting and crocheting scarves by hand will transfer the caring of the creator to the recipient more effectively store bought items (though we won’t discriminate, any and all donations welcome). These activities will also provide men and women with a constructive activity to do while on public transit. By presenting scarves to the community members in need we seek to accomplish the following:
- Extend an olive branch to the homeless community.
- Demonstrate society’s awareness of the population’s interconnectedness.
- Display the community’s willingness to provide assistance.
- Seek answers from the homeless on the service they need. We wish to provide mutual aid, not charity.
- Network with other socially conscious individuals.
- Spread love.
